Fabulous Felted Fabrication

 

Seeking new ideas for clients?  Want to use unique materials to fabricate?  Learn how to add felt/wool to projects to create amazing artisan products for that individual client.  Fabricate contemporary designs with applique techniques to appeal to the millennium generation.  Ideas and step by step procedures will be reviewed within this workshop.

 

Found Object Finds for Fabrication

 

Use found objects, unique shapes and creative banding techniques to create individual decorative accents to soft treatments.  Chains, keys and antique broaches, to name a few, will all be demonstrated for incorporation in your fabrication projects.  Met the design challenge adding bazar and flea market items to embellish and create one of a kind treatment.

 

The Story of the Pattern Design of Historic Textiles


A look into the creative process and historic information used to create the well-known textile patterns still used today. Focus will be on 3 major historic styles, Chinoiserie, Toile & French Provincial and Arts and Crafts and their influence on current textile designs. Attendees will obtain knowledge of color trends, scale, and textile ground cloths used from each period and how they have evolved to present day designs.

 

Printing Design Techniques


How to print your existing designs using various print methods such as block printing, silk screen and ink jet printing. Learn the process involved for each technique. Obtain resources for each printing method and cost

variables.
Within this workshop you will also learn about the various looks that can be achieved and compare

the results of these techniques.

 

Window Dressing Then and Now


History of window treatment designs and how the iconic fabrication styles evolved through the

centuries.  Attendees will obtain in depth knowledge on the history of window treatments from the

colonial period to the present with a focus on treatment application, function and the incorporation

of hardware into the design.
This workshop is perfect for those seeking information for historic preservation and incorporating

window covering designs to fit the period of home.

 

Outdoor Living-Decorating Outside the Walls

 

Break the barriers.  Bring the outdoors in and the indoors out.  Learn about unique ideas to integrate into outdoor spaces.  Maximize project square footage by creating one of kind additions to bring the design process to an outdoor space encouraging home owners to utilize an overlooked area of their home.  Ideas will cover soft furnishings, furniture and organic pieces.

 

Industrial Chic-Fabrication to Furnishing

 

Steam punk-design.  How to appeal to a younger design client.  How to re-purpose antique industrial pieces to create a living space set apart from the rest.  Adding soft furnishings to soften and balance the hard industrial surfaces with natural textiles.

 

Wine and Design-Building Workroom and Designer Relationships to Market to Clients

 

Build designer/workroom relation in collaboration to market soft furnishings to perspective
 clients.  How to create samples that entice a client while at the same time creating a
casual environment to discuss aspects of a custom treatment.  Information on presentation,
